Naumann/Hobbs is looking for YOU to fill our Battery Technician position in the Phoenix, AZ area.

What you will do:

The Battery technician is responsible for watering, cleaning, conducting minor repairs, and maintain electric batteries and battery chargers in a timely and efficient manner while providing outstanding customer service.

  • Remove and disassemble cells and inspect parts to detect defects.
  • Replace defective parts, reassemble batteries, and fuse lead parts with gas torch.
  • Fill cells with acid solution and determine specific gravity of solution.
  • Add acid or water to obtain specified concentration.
  • Attach charger leads to battery posts and start chargers.
  • Read meters and adjusts charge parameters to control time and flow of current through battery.
  • Ability to perform discharge tests, evaluate results, and make necessary repairs.
  • Repair battery charging equipment.
  • Prepare new product for shipment.
  • Properly unload, store, palletize, and load new, used, customer repair, and scrap batteries and chargers.
  • Operate material handling equipment per OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean working environment.
  • Perform routine battery & charger maintenance programs and battery washes.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures as listed, but not limited to warranty, safety, environmental, OSHA, DOT, Hazmat.
  • Maintain a service van and its inventory.
  • Maintain and keep valid driver’s license and record clean.

Competencies Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions on the repairs that need to be performed.
  • Critical thinking, troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations and maintain positive attitude.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task between service calls.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Basic understanding of electrical components and function.
  • Good mechanical and electrical aptitude, and knowledge of electrical/electronic systems with ability to read and understand schematics.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience- in a similar industry preferred.
  • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Experience with shop and hand tools.
  • Forklift experience and or certification.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee is occasionally required to lift 50 pounds and to be able to lift and carry 45 pounds.
  • The employee must be able to work around fumes, odors, chemicals and/or loud noises.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • The employee may be required to operate a forklift with appropriate certification(s).
  • This position is designated as a "Safety-Sensitive Position". A Safety-Sensitive Position includes tasks or duties that could affect the safety or health of the employee performing the task or others.
