The Company:
NextGen Battery Technologies, LLC, (NextGen) is developing a high-voltage, high energy density, solid-state lithium battery architecture that will outperform current industry standards of safety, energy density, and cost. Our focus is on deriving performance from the structure and composition of our materials and the optimization of surface reactions between them. Key innovations to date include our patented high-energy density cobalt-free cathode and our dendrite-blocking solid-state electrolyte for which the company has received an NSF Phase II SBIR grant to support commercialization. The company is seeking a talented technical leader to play a senior role in the continued execution of our technology development and commercialization strategy. The Company has successfully leveraged its resources since initiation through collaboration with other entities with whom we share a community of interest, in effect partnering to address performance goals or “pain areas” vital to their market and economic interests.
Position Summary:
Head of Business Development: This self-starting individual will have a deep understanding of electrochemistry and the ability to respond to partner needs. The role will include coordination with technical development staff and translating the capabilities of the company's cathode and/or electrolyte properties to solutions to customer pain points. As senior technical representative of the company, the BD lead will also have the opportunity to develop relationships with potential technical partners and collaborators, including government agency program managers and industry technical staff, regarding new programs and potential commercial relationships. This objective may be supplemented by attendance at industry conferences and presenting and/or publishing papers.
Desired Experience/Duties:
- Prior battery business development experience
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Battery-related Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, or a similarly relevant field desired but not essential.
- Extensive experience in electrochemistry development and evaluation.
- Strong background in fabrication and design of lithium or lithium-ion battery systems to full cell design in a variety of formats (coin, prismatic, cylindrical).
- Demonstrated experience with proposal and report writing.
- Experience in project coordination and planning.
- Extensive network of contacts within the battery industry.
- Creative, self-driven thinker with an insatiable curiosity, a history of problem solving, and an ability to wear many hats.
Location/Compensation:
Central New Jersey. Compensation in accordance with experience. Potential for equity ownership.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
