Behavior Technician Job at Oro Valley Hospital
This is a Full Time position working night Shift - 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. at Oro Valley Hospital in the Behavioral Health Unit.
Summary:
The Behavioral Health Technician in the Behavioral Health department at Oro Valley Hospital provides direct patient care to adults with psychiatric disorders and ensures the safety and well-being of patients. This 17-bed specialty unit is for voluntary adult patients only, ages 21+ .
The BHT monitors unit patients and completes rounds as assigned. Participates in treatment planning by helping to identify patients' problems, needs & strengths, reports all areas of concern regarding patient's mental or physical status to the Charge Nurse.
The BHT assists in obtaining vital signs, safety search of patients and personnel belongings, obtaining specimens and orienting new patients to unit. Carries out clerical and administrative assignment to support patient care and department operations including taking and routing telephone calls.
Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements
Education:
High School or equivalent required.
Post High School vocational/specialized training preferred.
Experience:
Minimum One (1) year experience in behavioral health or caring for the elderly required.
Licenses/Certifications:
Required:
BLS Basic Cardiac ( American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
Handle With Care (HWC) certification required within 30 days of start date
