JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CLINICIAN – CONTRACT POSITION
The Municipality of Skagway is accepting applications for a Behavioral Health Clinician. This is a full-time contracted position. This position is eligible for limited municipal benefits including medical, dental and retirement.
Wage Range: Per negotiated contract. Depending upon experience and qualifications.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or closely related field.
- Two years supervised experience in behavioral health.
- Experience with assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of substance use disorders.
- Alaska State licensure as LCSW, LPC or LMFT. Clinicians on track for licensure will be considered.
- Ability to prioritize case load and waitlist for the delivery of services.
- Demonstrate, or be prepared to develop competency in utilization of, psychodynamic, cognitive/behavioral,
CCISC (Comprehensive, Continuous, Integrated System of Care), Evidence Based Practice, and other theoretical models appropriate to the populations being treated.
- Demonstrate, or be prepared to develop competency in, utilization of the diagnostic tools for assessment and diagnosis of co-occurring disorders: ASAM PPC 2-R, DSM IV-TR, Alaska Screening Tool, Client Status Review,
SBIRT, Becks Depression Inventory, and other Mental Status Exams as required.
- Adhere to the NASW & the NAADAC Code of Ethics.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- As may be necessary for communication and documentation of charts and data.
- Organizational skills involved with working under partial supervision.
- The ability to prioritize work assignments and work independently.
Duties:
This position is responsible to:
- Provide culturally sensitive, competent behavioral health services to residents in the catchment area, under the supervision of the Executive Director of Dahl Memorial Clinic. Services offered include individual, family, and group psychotherapy, and rehabilitation/case management services as necessary.
- Provide emergency on-call services for the catchment area. Demonstrate, or be prepared to develop competency in the triage of psychiatric emergencies, and voluntary/involuntary commitment of persons to inpatient care.
- Act to coordinate, organize and facilitate community-based education and prevention programs with special consideration for children and youth in collaboration with Skagway School District.
- Assist Executive Director and Medical Director with outreach programs to provide care to marginalized populations that may not be accessing medical or behavioral health care for various reasons.
- Assist Risk Manager with duties as necessary and assigned by Executive Director.
- Develop and implement patient documentation such as management plans, record progress notes, and assist in provisions of continuity of care.
- Maintain and update electronic health records for the purposes of scheduling, billing, and reporting.
- Meet with medical providers: monthly; as required by patient needs; as needed for integrated medical and behavioral health care
- Coordinate with Executive Director and Medical Director for on-call coverage and for coverage during periods of leave or absence.
- Coordinate with medical providers to provide behavioral health services to patients.
- Cooperatively work with community agencies that refer psychiatric emergencies. Cooperatively work with all other agencies to provide collaboration and continuum of care for mutual clients.
- Submit reports as required by Executive Director, including quarterly reports for the Board of Directors.
- Observe all laws pertaining to behavioral health service delivery as designated in AS 08.86.180(b)(1).
- Meet all continued education requirements in a timely manner.
- Maintain certifications, licensure, and other requirements to continue to meet Dahl Memorial Clinic’s credentialing and privileging requirements.
- Maintain complete client records in strict compliance with the requirements of State and Federal statutes and those of Dahl Memorial Clinic. Observe all regulations governing confidentiality, HIPAA & 42 CFR Part 2.
- Comply with “Practice for Record Keeping” as established in Section 12 AAC 40.940 of the State Medical Board requirements
