Connections for Kids is one of Maine’s leading mental health agencies and for 26 years has been making a difference in the lives of children and families!

We're seeking experienced individuals to join our Behavioral Health Professional team at our special purpose private school in South Portland!

Portland Kids' Academy (grades K-8) is a special purpose school that provides behavioral support services to 10 students who have a mental health diagnosis that includes conduct disorders, anxiety and PTSD.

As a BHP for Connections for Kids you'll work alongside a licensed clinician and school personnel to provide support and teach behavioral management skills for our small group of students. This is a full time, school year position with time off for school vacation weeks and includes a 6 week summer program between July and August, located in South Portland, ME.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-2 years of experience working with children in the mental health field,
  • Experience with crisis intervention,
  • At least 90 completed college credits (required)
  • BHP Certified (preferred)
  • Able to get DOE fingerprinted and Ed Tech III certification- (90 college credits required for certification)
  • Have a valid drivers license with proof of auto insurance
  • Are a positive person with a strong work ethic

  • Connections for Kids is a least restrictive agency, but we do require all of our employees to be certified in Safety Care, which we provide as a paid training. Safety Care is a course teaching behavioral management and intervention techniques and also teaches safe physical management. Would you be comfortable using safe physical management with a student if it was necessary as a last resort to keep them from harming themselves or another person?
  • Do you have at least 90 completed college credits? 90 completed college credits is a requirement for this program from the Department of Education.
