NCSS is searching for a bilingual teacher for a small class within our group home.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Teacher is responsible for providing unaccompanied children (UC) with individual level-appropriate education while in our care. This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for assessing the educational needs of each UC in care
- Prepares daily lesson plans; makes instructional presentations; conducts discussions; encourages practice; and corrects student work in a manner that promotes language competence.
- Adjusts instruction to objectives and individual needs on a daily basis
- Provides individual students with positive and prompt feedback on their progress
- Helps develop and use language resources to support and supplement instructional activities. Renews competence and keeps abreast of new knowledge, research, and practice in language instruction and applies this knowledge to improve the instructional program.
- Works with one-on-one and small groups to remediate diagnosed weaknesses.
- Completes other duties that may be assigned by the Program Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Teacher is required to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and certification by the State Department of Education or other appropriate accrediting body preferred.
The Teacher is required to be able to operate a personal computer with proficiency in the use of web-based platforms and Microsoft Word. The applicant must pass a national background check conducted by fingerprints, a state police background check, a CT DCF protective service background check, and a motor vehicle check.
