JOB DESCRIPTIONTITLE: BOARD CERTIFIED BEHAVIOR ANALYST (BCBA)CLASSIFICATION: ExemptREPORTS TO: Special Education DirectorSALARY LEVEL: Teacher ScaleAPPROVED BY: Board of DirectorsDATE: 3/25/2022 SUMMARY/OBJECTIVEProvide direct and consultative therapeutic and evaluative services for the behavior assessment of the school setting. The BCBA conducts descriptive and systematic behavioral assessments, including functional analyses, and provides behavior analytic interpretations of the result. The BCBA creates and implements function-based behavior intervention plans, and teaches others to carry out ethical and effective behavior analytic interventions based on published research and designs and delivers instruction in behavior analysis. The following outline of the role and responsibilities is intended to provide a broad overview, but is subject to change according to the needs of LPVEC, as required by the Executive Director.SPECIFICATIONS: Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Exempt, Full- TimeRequired Education and Experience: QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Graduate degree from an accredited university, completion of acceptable graduate coursework in behavior analysisPreferred experience in K-12 educational settingMinimum 3 years experience as BCBACERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must hold current BCBA credentials through the Behavior Analyst Certification BoardMust be licensed through the state of MA as a Licensed Applied Behavior Analyst (LABA)ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSConduct Functional Behavior Assessments with or without a FADevelop/assist with individual behavior management programs for students in the classroom, home and/or inclusion settingDirect staff training and development around principles of ABAProvide program/individual staff consultation on therapeutic staff design/implementation of BIPsProvide program/individual staff consultation on development/implementation of curriculum grounded in principles of ABAFacilitate Team consultation meetings with classroom teachers/ related service providers/ paraprofessional staffModify training materials when neededReview required BIP and ABA methodology with new employeesSchedule and document personal provision of services to students, as outlined on IEPsMaintain daily intervention notesProvide guidance for and indirect monitoring of staff entries in daily intervention notesAssist school-based staff with development of learning objectives rooted in theories of ABAComplete student program supervision notesEngage in social-behavioral elements of annual IEP process (attendance at Team mtgs, updating of PLEP A/B, update of current performance data, development of goals/benchmarks, progress reports, annual summary, etc.) as neededPerform other duties as requested by the program supervisor or the Director of Special Education, within the scope of job descriptionADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the above-listed duties and responsibilities. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to collect and analyze student data.REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESAbility to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OR DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
