Board of Elections Logistics Specialist Job at Wake County Government

Wake County Board of Elections is currently seeking a Logistics Specialist to join our dynamic and talented Staffing Team. The Logistics Specialist plays a critical role in planning and conducting elections at the county level. As the primary polling place manager, the Logistics Specialist will manage the communication and reservations for each polling place. As a part of this Team, you are responsible for all polling place database management, orchestrating staff, events, vendors and supplies to ensure successful elections.
What will you do as a Logistics Specialist?
Coordinate contracts and agreements for the usage of 208 polling places for each election
Provide customer service and communicate with polling places and Precinct Officials in-person, over the phone and by email
Schedule polling place ADA surveys and manage facility updates at each Wake County polling place to be surveyed and inspected as potential facilities to be used as polling places
Contact vendors and property owners to build and maintain a positive relationship and plan the services required for the execution of each election
Present polling place move recommendations to Board Members and other critical Board level polling place issues
Provide in person assistance to polling place inquiries during Precinct Official trainings prior to elections
Coordinate with moving company to plan the distribution and collection of election equipment to and from 208 polling places for each election
Plan and oversee multiple remote locations for supply distribution and collection
Post-election reconciliation duties to include provisionals, voter history, presentations to the Board and assisting with record retention
About Our Team
The Wake County Board of Elections is responsible for conducting all elections held in Wake County. The Board locally administers State election laws. Principal functions include establishing election precincts and voting sites; appointing and training Precinct Officials; preparing and distributing ballots and voting equipment; canvassing and certifying the ballots cast in elections and investigating any voting irregularities. It maintains voter registration and participation records and provides public information on voters and elections. This position is in-person and will work at the Board of Elections Operations Center.
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
High school diploma or GED
Two years of experience in logistics, supply chain management or elections
Lift Truck Operator or must be able to obtain
Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record
Equivalent education and experience are accepted
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
Working in a County elections office
Fork-lift Certification
Clear financial and criminal records check
