Bookkeeper - Wilsonville High School


This position is an 8 hour/day position under the Classified Bargaining Unit. The start date is January 3, 2023.

DEFINITION

Under the supervision of the high school Principal or Assistant Principal, accounts for all revenues and disbursements related to the high school student body funds, and performs related work as required.


DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Primarily the bookkeeper manages high school student body funds.


EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Prepares purchase orders, maintains student body accounts, reconciles bills, and prepares checks for payment of approved bills; prepares financial reports; conducts cashiering activities; prepares bank deposits and reconciles monthly bank statements; reviews invoices and matches purchase orders with receiving statements; verifies and submits purchase orders for approval; orders new and additional textbooks, workbooks, etc. as needed for students’ courses; keeps accurate inventory of each textbook title ordered, numbers volumes received, and marks proper identification on each; prepares individual student fee card, posting all charges and credits; keeps accurate record of all student charges, lost and damaged books, fines and lost library books, athletic locks and gear, shop charges, safety glasses, etc.; receives payment of such charges, notifies students of balance due and sends statement for payment; and distributes student body cards, picture packets and yearbook; other duties as assigned.


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS


Knowledge of:

  • Mathematics, Business English, spelling, and punctuation;
  • Computer-based data entry and data processing procedures;
  • Current office practices, procedures, keyboarding, and equipment;
  • Rules, regulations, procedures, and functions of the district;
  • Accounting principles;
  • Office management principles and ability to apply this knowledge.

Ability to:

  • Read, write, and follow oral and written instructions with little supervision;
  • Post data and make mathematical computations rapidly and accurately;
  • Utilize a variety of office equipment with speed and accuracy, including computer and calculator;
  • Routinely lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and over 50 pounds with assistance;
  • Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with students, fellow employees, and the general public;
  • Maintain confidentiality in all phases of work, i.e. records, meetings, etc.
  • Complete all district required trainings.

Experience:

  • Two years of general bookkeeping experience in keeping or reviewing financial or statistical records.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent as required by Oregon Administrative Rules, Oregon Department of Education.
