THE ROOSEVELT HOTEL NEW ORLEANS New Orleans, LA 70112

Markets and sells merchandise to guests and manages the gift shop to ensure guest satisfaction and maximum profitability. Buys, orders, inspects, prices and displays merchandise, conducts inventory, selects and manages vendors, manages the financial processes of forecasting, budgeting, purchasing, payroll and inventory control. Performs duties of gift shop clerk as needed. Interviews, trains, supervises, counsels, schedules and evaluates staff.

What will I be doing?

  • Hire, train, schedule supervise, develop, discipline and counsel team members according to Hilton policies and guidelines.
  • Select and order quality merchandise to meet the needs of the hotel guests. Ensure that all merchandise is recorded and programmed into the cash register. Determine par levels of merchandise and conduct monthly inventory calculations.
  • Ensure the maintenance and appealing merchandising of the gift shop.
  • Determine pricing of all gift shop merchandise to meet the established profit %. Verify all invoices with accounting.
  • Manage vendors, records, budgets, forecasts, sales strategies, delivery records and other administrative functions of the department. Ensure the verification and inspection of incoming products
  • Determine hours of operation and schedule staff to meet the needs of the hotel. Monitor and approve payroll records and reports.
  • Meet and greet customers as they enter gift shop. Provide assistance as required. Complete the sales of orders for guests by utilizing cash register.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

  • Attend all regularly scheduled meetings (i.e. Staff meeting, department meetings) as required.
  • Work as Manager on Duty as needed.
  • Attend all required training classes.
  • Travel to and attend gift shop trade shows as needed.
