Job Summary
The Quality Business Analyst - Analytics supports the design, development, and implementation of business intelligence tools and solutions. As a member of the Quality team, the Analytics Business Analyst will be expected to create, improve, and maintain U of L Health’s reporting and analytic deliverables that leverage data from various internal and external source systems while designing and developing dashboards that assist in improving and optimizing the quality of care provided by U of L Health and support strategic initiatives and various regulatory, accreditation, and national agencies. This role will work closely with clinicians and administration, as well as IT and vendors on data validation and integration to ensure data integrity meets vendor requirements
- Gathers and analyzes business requirements and translates these requirements into analytics and reports.
- Competent at developing, implementing, supporting, and maintaining data analytics protocols, standards, tools, and dashboards.
- Fully understands through practical experience how to cleanse, normalize, and validate large healthcare datasets for use in analytics.
- Ability to build, manipulate, and analyze large, detailed healthcare datasets, then conceptualize and create output that allows you to determine benchmarks and goals, identify anomalies/trends, provide insights, and create and distribute production reports and dashboards that support clinical and administrative leadership and stakeholders, and allows for additional analysis or conclusions by them through inclusion of supporting data.
- Can lead and support ad-hoc analytics requests from leadership and facilitate required data acquisition and analyses from various source systems.
- Develops and maintains training content for analytics products and conducts training sessions for end users to enhance data literacy and adoption of analytics solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of administrative and clinical leadership, as well as the ability to build and maintain external relationships.
- Must be mentally flexible, objective, have ability to conceptualize analytics needed and then apply, explain, and teach it.
- Experience writing SQL queries or have knowledge of database concepts to review SQL queries a plus.
- Experience using Vizient a plus.
- Assists in data collection, analysis, and prepares reports for all aspects of Quality and Safety.
- Provides project support, data analysis and assistance as needed.
- Ability to translate data into insight using data visualization tools such as Tableau.
- Familiarity with reimbursement and financial methodologies/modeling.
Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Science or Computer Science required. Master’s Degree in healthcare-related field, highly preferred.
Experience (required and preferred):
- 4 plus years of experience in a healthcare setting creating analytics.
- 5-6 years’ experience in developing requirements and training content for BI/Analytics projects required.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse and enterprise reporting technologies required.
- Understanding of Agile principles and SDLC required.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including ability to communicate effectively with both business and IT teams.
- Strong organizational, administrative, presentation skills required.
- Strong problem-solving skills, quantitative, and analytical abilities.
- Must be an expert Excel user who has advanced equation knowledge for creating database, analytics, dashboards and control charts.
