Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties associated with the Arapahoe County Judicial Services Division.

NOTE:
This is a full time position.

Duties

Process walk-in and phone appointments for justice-involved individuals. Answer a high volume of telephone calls and for the Pretrial Release, Alternative Services/Useful Public Service and Community Correction Programs here at Judicial Services Division. Attention to detail is essential to enter a daily high volume of data onto the Judicial Services' case management software. Supervision of pending cases, dissemination of memorandums to the Probation Department and providing justice-involved callers information regarding the status of their case and routes calls to the appropriate person.

Prioritizing front desk of greeting customers, phone calls, email communication, financial transactions and inventory of supplies, administrative support to the management team and staff are some of the duties required for this position. Being comfortable assisting individuals who are going through the criminal justice systems, mental health, substance abuse, unemployment and other barriers.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Experienced in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with department heads, professional peers, supervisors, other employees and the general public.
  • Attendance and punctuality is essential to being a successful Business Associate and to the functions of the Judicial Services team as a whole.
  • Must have excellent computer and typing skills.
  • Organizes and prioritizes work activities so that work is completed thoroughly, accurately and efficiently. Excellent time management skills are required.
  • Ability to develop cooperation and teamwork while participating in a group, working with and through others toward a solution.

Requirements

Education and Experience:


  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • One (1) year experience in a clerical position, preferably in the criminal justice system, or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is desired.

Supplemental Information

Pre-Employment Additional Requirements:


  • Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check. (other options: Physical capabilities examination, drug screen, polygraph)
  • Possession of a valid Class “R” Colorado Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within two weeks of appointment.
  • Security clearance required: will require fingerprinting and a Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) background check.
Post-Employment Requirements:
  • Successful completion of bi-annual Colorado Justice Information System (CJIS) training.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work is confined to a standard office environment. This position is primarily located in Centennial at Lima Plaza, however we also have a satellite office in Aurora at Altura Plaza that office coverage may be required depending on the needs of the Division.
  • Hours are typically Monday – Friday 8am – 4:30pm. May be required to work additional hours as business needs dictate. Start and/or end time may vary as business needs dictate.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position.
  • In the office spends 90% of each day sitting and another 10% either walking or standing.
  • Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls or pushes up to 20 lbs.
  • Occasionally climbs, stoops, kneels, balances, reaches, crawls and crouches while performing office or work duties.
  • Oral and auditory capacity enabling constant interpersonal communication through automated devices, such as the telephone and computer email system.
  • Constant use of hand, finger, and eye coordination enabling operation of office and field equipment.
  • Visual capacity enabling constant use of computer or other work related equipment.
Definitions:
Occasionally: Activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.
Frequently: Activity exists between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
Constantly: Activity exists more than 2/3 of the time.
