Function of the position: The BD Associate/Sr. Associate is a member of the Business Development Continuous Improvement (BDCI) Team, whose mandate is to enhance USG’s business development (BD) and create more efficient and higher performing BD staff and proposal teams. The BDCI team's core functions include learning/capacity building, information/knowledge management, performance analytics, support to BD Initiatives, and overall proposal support, as needed. The Associate/Sr. Associate will support and engage in a wide range of learning, knowledge management, and skill building activities to advance DAI’s win rate, realize proposal development efficiencies, and improve staff competencies and professional development in business development across USG. This is a full-time professional position.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Learning/Capacity Building (35%)
· Manage BD learning calendar and offerings; handle announcements, invitations, attendance reports, course feedback, and maintenance of course materials
· Organize and sustain facilitation resources for learning; identify, train, and refresh skills of facilitators; serve as a facilitator as needed
· Support and manage content development for diverse learning; organize workflows across content contributors; propose topics and activities for content development; develop and lead content directly
· Participate in learning/training sessions; become an increasingly involved speaker/presenter at learning/training events; generate feedback and distill learnings from pilot training and events
Information/Knowledge Management (35%)
· Support design and maintenance of SharePoint-based BD site on DAI intranet system
· Curate library of BD resources, including handbooks, quick reference guides, and templates, to ensure materials are updated, formatted, and edited on a timely basis. As needs are identified, support and lead development of new materials with input from colleagues
· Lead maintenance and improvement efforts for DAI’s Dynamics-based CRM system
· Support and lead efforts to improve and develop further BD knowledge management systems in SharePoint, CRM, and other platforms
· Support and sustain messaging and reporting on learning and analytics to BD staff and other USG teams; keep track of learning events/offerings, tools, initiatives, best practices for inclusion in diverse communications; profile select items for BD site or different communication products
· Participate in working groups to revise and improve BD practices
Performance and Data Analysis (15%)
- Support identification, collection, analysis and dissemination of indicator data related to USG BD performance, using dashboards and other reporting tools to make findings accessible to USG stakeholders
- Identify relevant topics for research and analysis (e.g. solicitation trends, mission preferences, debrief findings, etc.) and lead investigations with input and collaboration from USG colleagues
- Support and lead messaging and reporting on best practices and lessons learned for proposal development
Business Development (BD) Support (15%)
· Provide discrete BD support to proposal teams as needed and to build own understanding of DAI BD processes and inputs—this includes preparing specific proposal inputs; providing background research for bids; shadowing live bid coordination and pricing; and serving in key proposal roles
Qualifications (minimum):
Grade P2: Minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience and a college degree. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Grade P3: More than 1 year of relevant professional experience in business development and a college degree. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Required Skills/competencies:
· Exposure to learning, analysis, and knowledge sharing approaches and methodologies
· Familiarity with international development
· Proficient with Microsoft software, particularly Word, Excel,
· Strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to develop visualizations and graphics for diverse knowledge products
· Customer service orientation, with a positive, can-do attitude and a sense of humor.
· Effective administrative and organizational skills, and attention to detail
· Ability to communicate and work with a broad range of professionals
Able and willing to adjust work schedule, if needed, to support teams located in different time zones/countries.
Able and willing to travel to any country where DAI currently operates or may wish to operate barring times when DAI Global security has deemed travel unsafe.
· Authorized to work in the United States
Preferred, but not required:
- Professional working proficiency in a second language (Spanish, French, Russian, or Arabic preferred).
- Experience using PowerBI and/or other data visualization and analysis tools
- Experience with basic web design/maintenance, preferably using Microsoft SharePoint.
- Understanding of USAID business development lifecycle and proposal development processes.
Compensation & Benefits:
For P2 employees working the United States, the full-time equivalent annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $55,516 to $60,414.
For P3 employees working the United States, the full-time equivalent annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $62,455 to $67,966.
Salary for part-time employees will be prorated based on actual hours worked. Actual offers will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant education, experience, skills, seniority, performance, and business or organizational needs.
Eligible U.S. based employees, will be able to enroll in medical, dental and vision insurance, plus a 401(k)-retirement plan with a company match. Additionally, employees will be eligible for company-paid annual leave (vacation & holidays), sick leave, parental leave; as well as short- and long-term disability coverage. Detailed information will be provided at the time a formal offer is extended.
For employees working outside of the United States, compensation and benefits will vary based on location.
