Job Summary: The Buyer is responsible for performing detailed planning and purchasing functions. They are responsible for ensuring orders, expedites and returns are handled in a prompt and efficient manner. They will assist with supplier selection, quality analysis, RFQs and general data management of the ERP system.
Essential Functions:
· Maintain, control, and plan timely receipts of components to meet production and supply requirements.
· Expedite materials based on changing production requirements. Keep production management and supervision informed of status on current and potential shortages.
· Actively assist the product development process by helping to locate new sources of components and coordinating tooling and design changes with supplier partners.
· Work with Quality, Production, and suppliers to isolate, rework and/or replace defective purchased components through the returns process when needed.
· Understand product specifications for purchased materials to ensure proper quality.
· Develop and nurture good supplier relationships.
· Secure and analyze quotes, negotiate pricing, and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery.
· Identify opportunities to drive out costs and improve quality.
· Assist with general data entry and data management in the ERP system.
· Ensure a safe work environment for self and others, following all safety rules and regulations. Demonstrate commitment to safety program.
· Work at a consistent and steady pace, be prepared to work each day, and report to assigned work area in a punctual manner. Ensure regular and predictable attendance.
· Work required overtime as needed.

· Communicates with supervisor and co-workers in a professional manner.
· Support and positively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
· Keep facilities, materials, and work area clean and orderly.
· Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required education and training:
· Excellent keyboarding skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Power Point, and Excel.
· Working knowledge of inventory control systems and processes; AS400 or XA/Powerlink experience preferred.
· Excellent follow up and follow through skills, as well as a strong desire to learn.
· Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and assembly schematics
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Competent business math skills (including conversion factors, ratios, etc.).
· Great communication skills, (listening, verbal and written), with ability to conduct presentations in front of a team or group.
· Positive attitude and proactive mindset to work effectively with cross-functional teams including production employees, supervisors, managers, and suppliers.
· Great attention to detail and project management skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
