Summary:

Support production and sales with bringing in the correct material at the right time and cost. Create and modify purchase orders and communicate with suppliers. Place expedited purchase orders as requests come through from production. Coordinate and ensure timely excess material returns to suppliers. Determine overdue materials and parts. Must be able to communicate effectively, manage time wisely, and work in a fast paced environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of production expedited purchase requests by researching for best quality, best cost, best timing and placing orders
• Follow Standard Workflow for ERP Navision suggested buys and understand how to manipulate ERP system to drive best results for company
• Create purchase orders for stock material via suggested buy
• Confers with department supervisors and team leaders to determine overdue material and parts, contact suppliers. Inform supervisors/branch managers of material status and as appropriate
• May direct warehouse material handlers to expedite transfer of materials from stock area to production areas
• Maintain an awareness of materials and procurement concepts
• May examine material received, verify part numbers, and check discrepancies with orders and ensure timely correction
• Transfer material between branches as needed to maximize stock and freight efficiency
• Maintain data integrity on production orders, transfer orders and purchase orders
• Perform other duties as required by supervision management

Qualifications

• College Degree Preferred
• Ability to work in high paced environment
• ERP / MRP systems Planning and Purchasing experience required (MS Navision preferred)
• Working ability to use Microsoft Excel (create formulas, use pivot tables, etc.), Outlook, and Word
• Ability to problem solve and deduce likely problem root causes, analytic thinking ability
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally, customer service attitude
• 2-5 year experience with purchasing in manufacturing or distribution environment
• Ability to be assertive & direct

Working Conditions:

Job requires ability to work on a computer and phone for extended periods. Requires good ability to use phone, e-mail and written communication skills as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects. Job requires direct face to face communication with warehouse and production personnel. Noisy environment for 10% of time.
