Who are we looking for?

The Coffee and Plants Manager is responsible for creating exceptional memorable experiences for all of our human and animal friends. We are laser focused on exceptional hospitality and creating high quality, specialty food and beverage items that will leave memorable experiences for our customers. We are looking for Coffee lovers that embody the definition of customer service and to which an attentive, warm, and friendly smile comes naturally.

The store manager is the ultimate responsible individual for leading all team members in the efficient, pleasant, and profitable operation of a Coffee and Plants store. He/she is responsible for managing day-to-day store operations, overseeing a staff that consistently crafts excellent food and coffee and tea beverages, and fostering a welcoming environment which provides efficient and hospitable service for fellow team members as well as customers. As The Coffee and Plants Manager you will set the tone and personality of our magical stores. You will lead a team of motivated individuals and craft them into a cheerful cohesive team through careful management of employee training, hospitality standards, product knowledge, encouraging safe work practices, and demonstrating a commitment to the house policies as specified by Coffee and Plants guidelines. As store manager you will be the first point of contact to the everyone that walks through our doors and the face of all the happy smiles that you bring to all of our customers.

Responsibilities

- Manager is the role model for outstanding hospitality and customer service, and takes responsibility for the service executed by employees at his/her store.

- Ensures that all team members provide customers with outstanding hospitality on a consistent basis.

- Ensures each team member has received proper training to set them up for success.

- Executes sales and profit plans that are in-line with budgetary objectives as set by Coffee and Plants.

- Accountable for profitability of the café : helps grow sales and controls costs of goods, inventory levels, labor, supplies and all store related expenses.

- Identifies opportunities and bottlenecks and ways to resolve those.

- Pro-actively takes initiative on all fronts.

- Oversees management of proper scheduling coverage; schedules according to the needs of business while maintaining target operational and labor costs.

- Oversees all transaction and media management functions. Able to perform all POS duties, front and back of house functions including opening and closing procedures, table settings, presentations, quality control and overall state of the store.

- Maintains and trains a team on reviewing transaction and POS handling procedures

- Maintains a clean, organized, and well-merchandised store, following company visual and safety standards.

- Plans, executes and communicates all sales promotions and new product information effectively and efficiently.

- Plans, executes and communicates all special events executed by the store or executed in the regional area.

- Assists executive management team in identifying staffing, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training needs of qualified candidates. Helps facilitate on-going training and development of current staff.

- Promotes and practices safe work habits, identifying and resolving potential safety hazards, operational inconsistencies and any team member or customer incidents. Documents accidents, conducts initial investigation and determination of root cause in the interest of maintaining a safe work environment.

- Proactively solves customer problems and satisfies customer needs in all situations. Proactively focuses on solutions rather than problems

- Ensures that all team members are committed to and abide by the policies specified in the Coffee and

Plants handbooks and manuals.

- Maintains high cleanliness standards throughout the store in the areas of store appearance, merchandising, and equipment maintenance.

- Provides ongoing training and development to all team members in the areas of operating standards, customer service, machinery standards, and product knowledge.

- Contributes to positive morale by fostering a work environment where employee input is encouraged and valued and followed up on

- Continually develops employee skills, establishing specific performance objectives, and measuring team member performance regularly.

- Coaches and counsels team members for improved performance, documenting developmental plans for the executive management team as necessary.

- Ensures that Coffee and Plants food and drink recipes and procedures are followed, maintaining the highest quality and consistent product standards.

- Develops an understanding of plant based food and beverage items.

- Develops and understanding of Coffee and Plant’s sustainability mission and assists in achieving and exceeding these goals

- Ensures that all Coffee and Plants’ food and retail offerings maintain the highest quality.

- Ensures that all team members are educated about all products and services. Develops an understanding of Coffee and Plants’ coffee and tea blends and roasts, as well as knowledge of coffee and tea origins, and the various differences in flavor and blends.

- Ensures quality control: Tastes drink and food products on a per shift basis for quality assurance.

- Serves as trusted source and safe space for all team members

Qualifications

What You’ll Need

■ To work a schedule that varies throughout the week, requiring nights, weekends, and holidays.

■ 3+ years of retail management experience in a busy environment is preferred.

■ Possess a valid California Manager Food Handlers card upon hiring.

■ Must be able to work overtime and special events as needed.

■ Well-organized, detail-oriented and able to multitask.

■ Must have effective problem solving/decision making abilities.

■ This position will require frequent standing and use of hands and arms.

■ Must be able to lift up to 30lbs and frequently bend and twist from the waist.

■ Regularly required to handle food, hot beverages, and work with sharp objects.

■ Reliable form of transportation and valid driver’s license.

■ Ability to stand, sit, bend and to lift up to 50 lbs

■ Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

■ Arrive to work with a positive,motivating, can-do attitude.

■ Lead by example as a Coffee and Plants leader.

■ Remain responsive through Whatsapp, Slack, email, text, and phone calls.

■ Writing proficient and knowledge of email etiquette.

■ Works as a team member as well as team leader

■ Works with a team-oriented approach driven by solutions.

- Wage range: $20 hr + tip
