BelugaSmile Productions (BSP) is an independent production house based in San Francisco, California. For over twenty years, we have worked to catalyze social change, focused on the intersection between human well-being, nature, and science. Our projects have contributed to successfully passing legislation that protects the environment and provides legal security of land tenure for vulnerable indigenous communities in Mesoamerica; expands Marine Reserves in the Sea of Cortez, Mexico; establishes protection for a newly discovered coral reef in Belize-Guatemala; provides life-saving medicine to HIV patients in Panama and protects the endangered harpy eagle population, also in Panama.

Opportunity

BelugaSmile Productions is looking for a San Francisco-based Campaign Coordinator, to lead the Public Engagement Campaign, “bigFISH”, for our 1-hour film for international broadcast, “Treasure of the Caribbean”. This is a full-time, 12-month freelance contracted position, starting May 2023. The position is to be performed on-site at our offices, as well as remotely.

The ‘bigFISH’ campaign is endorsed and partnered with Nature/PBS, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA), and 40+ international NGOs and governments throughout the wider Caribbean. The campaign’s objective is to promote the film, as well as effectively communicate its message of coral reef conservation, marine species endangerment, and sustainable fisheries to fishers, policymakers, and the general public

Responsibilities

• Learn and execute the film’s campaign strategy, its timeline, its international partners, and existing deliverables
• Actively communicate and coordinate with the Communication Sub-Committee of the Spawning Aggregation Working Group, led by Ana Salceda (BelugaSmile Productions.)
• Coordinate with our Interactive Designer & Developer to oversee the construction of the campaign’s online information ‘Hub’
• The bigFISH ‘Hub’ is a multilingual, interactive platform with freely accessible downloadable resources for partners and target audiences.
• The bigFISH Hub will provide a home for the campaign and remain in place to track actions, efforts, and updates to accomplish our Fishery Management Plan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
• At least 3 years of experience in campaign management, campaign coordination, or public engagement.
• Previous involvement with conservation or environmental campaigns is an additional bonus

• Strong skills in social media engagement metrics, and the ability to adjust campaign strategy to optimize audience engagement
• Strong leadership, and eagerness to collaborate with a diverse team, spanning different international time-zones
• Well-organized, detail-oriented, ability to multi-task with great follow-up skills
• Fluency in Spanish or French is an additional bonus
