HOURLY RATE: $15.00 - $16.54/hour

Description of Duties:

This position would serve as a part time, temporary Campus Safety Officer at NCSSM-Morganton.

This position will work with the Campus Safety team and provide backup and coverage as needed in areas of staffing shortages, special events, and general Campus Safety departmental support.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Security, Patrol, & Enforcement

• Inspects buildings and grounds to observe and secure facilities against fire and other situations of potential loss to NCSSM-Morganton.
• Admits and releases authorized persons, removes unauthorized persons, and provides access control for approved personnel.
• Responds to, investigates, and documents disturbances and/or incidents and takes necessary and appropriate actions to maintain order and safety and to protect property. Cooperates with campus staff and external law enforcement agencies while conducting investigations. Testifies in court, if applicable or required.
• Provides escort services as requested for students and visitors to NCSSM-Morganton facilities and parking lots.
• Participates in campus-wide events that enhance the Campus Safety Department’s interaction and visibility amongst the campus community.
• Performs special assignments including staffing of external/internal events and protecting NCSSM-Morganton equipment and property.
• Is required to operate NCSSM-Morganton vehicles including, but not limited to vans, UTV’s, and any other motorized vehicles safely.

The desired candidate would have previous school environment or campus safety experience as well as:

• Experience in maintaining standard operating procedures.
• Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills and flexibility.
• Excellent public relations skills by phone, in person, and in written correspondence.
• Experience in using office computer systems such as Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs.
• Must have a valid NC driver’s license.
