Canine Supervisor Job at Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County
Do you love working with animals?
Shelter pets need someone to be tracking their progress during their time at the shelter. Our Canine Manager monitors the movement of dogs through our shelter process and works as a promoter for these animals, making sure all other staff knows their traits and qualities.
Your primary task as Canine Manager is to keep the dogs in our shelter moving from intake through the adoption process. If an animal is sick, you will work with our medical team to provide medical care and communicate with Animal Caretakers to ensure medical needs (medicated baths, medication dispensing, etc) are being carried out. The Canine Manager assists the Shelter Director with supervision, motivation, and training of staff, surgical scheduling, vaccination of canines, temporment testing of canines, and assisting with or carrying out humane euthanasia as necessary.
The Canine Manager also assist with adoptions, receiving physical donations and ensuring all animals are cleaned and fed.
Qualifications:
Canine expereince in a professional setting required
High School diploma (18 years of age or older)
Current Driver's License
Have reliable transportation
Weekend availability
Able to lift at least 50 pounds
Good communication and interpersonal skills necessary for customer service
Strong knowledge of canine behavior required
Experience managing people preferred
Must be able to handle the emotional aspect of working an animal shelter environment.
Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
