DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the monthly Memory Café held in Jamestown. This includes scheduling presenters and entertainers, obtaining sponsorships for refreshments, completing the appropriate registration paperwork with new participants, preparing sign-in sheets to be used at the meetings, and marketing the events.
  • Plan monthly Tuesday Table Talk events including scheduling presenters, obtaining lunch sponsorships, and marketing the events.
  • Create the monthly CATHI (Caregivers’ Answers, Topics, and Helpful Information) Article to be placed on the agency website and throughout the community.
  • Ensure the agency’s 2 Caregiver Resource Libraries located in the Greensboro and High Point offices are kept fully stocked. This includes identifying new information and resources to be included.
  • Oversee the agency’s Caregiver Respite Voucher Program. This includes completing assessments with potential clients to ensure eligibility, completing appropriate paperwork with clients and educating clients on the policies and procedures of the program, working with local in-home care agencies by maintaining Service Agreements, and submitting appropriate invoices in a timely manner for in-home care agencies to be reimbursed for services provided.
  • Work with other local service providers to plan and implement a Caregiver Expo annually. This event provides caregivers with an opportunity to take a break, meet other caregivers, and learn about community resources to assist with their caregiving responsibilities.
  • Identify clients in need of accessibility modifications and work with local volunteers or service providers to construct ramps for eligible clients.
  • Complete and maintain certification requirements to become a Certified Options Counselor and a Certified Community Resource Specialist for Aging/Disability through AIRS.
  • Upon completion of Options Counseling Certification, respond to Caregiver Options Counseling requests by helping caregivers to create an Action Plan that can assist with obtaining needed resources to help meet their needs. These visits can be conducted in the home or in-office.
  • Complete monthly reporting including entering units into the Aging Resources Management System (ARMS) and completing agency report.
  • Ensure client information is kept up-to-date and appropriate paperwork is completed with each client.
  • Provide information bi-monthly to the Senior Center Director for the Caregiver Corner section of the Active Living Newsletter that is distributed to over 2,000 individuals throughout the community through hard copy and e-mail.
  • Market Family Caregiver programs and events through mass e-mails and mailings, the Evergreens Lifestyle Center Active Living Newsletter, social media, community presentations, and health/agency fairs.
  • Participate in quarterly Family Caregiver Support Program meetings conducted by the Area Agency on Aging. Meetings rotate between in-person meeting and conference calls.
  • Provide coverage of the agency’s SeniorLine Information and Referral Program by responding to calls and walk-in requests as needed.
  • Provide coverage of the High Point office one day each week.
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to prepare and submit reports in a timely manner.

Ability to understand and work with seniors and their caregivers.

Knowledge and experience with computers.

Have reliable transportation and valid NC driver’s license.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Experience with aging programs and/or services preferred.

Experience working with older adults preferred.
