Parks/Pipestem Resort State Park/Summers County - Under general supervision, this employee will construct, maintain, alter, and repair buildings or fabricate and repair a variety of wooden articles and equipment. Maintenance and repair of 26 cabins and 2 lodges at Pipestem Resort State Park. Remodels rooms, including structural repairs and alterations. Replace and repair roofs, replace wood floorings, sand, and finish floorings.
Construct and repair decks. Follows sketches, specifications, or oral instructions, as well as established trade practices in performing work assignments. Window replacement and siding replacement on buildings and residences. Pour concrete, lay block for building structures and lay rock for cabin foundation and signs. Complete ADA upgrades including repairing ramps, widening of doors, grab bars, and sidewalk repairs. Remodel concession facilities, new bar, wood flooring, for dance floor, alterations, and repairs.
Operates a wide variety of woodworking machines and tools such as power saws, joiners, mortise, sharpener, bandsaw, sanders, planes, chisels, or wood files. Knowledge of the qualities, adaptabilities, and uses of various woods and materials. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations of the work. Knowledge of standard practices and methods of the carpentry trade. Knowledge of tools and materials used in repairing and constructing wooden articles. Skill in use of carpenter’s tools, power tools, and woodworking machines. Ability to read and work from blueprints, drawings, and sketches. Ability to make accurate calculations and measurements. Perform related work as required. Regular attendance is required.
Training: Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent. Substitution: Additional experience as stated below may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis. Experience: Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience or self-employment in the area of assignment. Substitution: Completion of related training from a vocational school or an approved apprenticeship program may substitute through an established formula on a year-for-year basis.
