POSITION SUMMARY

To provide support to the underwriting staff by triaging submissions for all classes of business in order to increase submit to quote and quote to bind ratios.


LOCATION

This is a hybrid role that will require one day per week in-office. Candidates must be able to easily commute to one of the following offices.

  • Alpharetta, GA
  • Chapel Hill, NC
  • Hartford, CT
  • Scottsdale, AZ


SALARY RANGE

The expected salary range is $70,000 to $80,000 and subject to change at any time at the discretion of the Company.


PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews appetite, underwriting guidelines and industry resources for new business submissions to determine departmental eligibility.
  • Analyzes Acord applications and Supplemental Applications to determine pertinent underwriting and risk analysis information.
  • Assists in the general underwriting process by obtaining necessary information and data from brokers as required.
  • Review General Liability and Excess Casualty submissions for cross-selling opportunities.
  • Completes rating of submissions per underwriting guidelines.
  • Reviews loss information.
  • Organizes and maintains policy files. Reviews files, records and other documents, as needed.
  • Develops strong working relationships with counterparts at wholesale broker offices.
  • Runs reports as necessary.
  • Continues to increase underwriting knowledge and skills through formal education and On-The-Job training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Basic knowledge of the underwriting principles and processes.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel|Word|SharePoint) with demonstrated high accuracy output.
  • Strong problem solving, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while meeting established deadlines.
  • Ability to demonstrate time management and organizational skills.
  • Proven team player and energetic personality.


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATIONS:

  • College degree or equivalent commercial lines experience.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical demands are considered to be that of an office environment, climate controlled, with minimal physical exertion. This position requires prolonged sitting, ability to utilize a computer and interactions with others in meetings or via phone.
