Hutchinson Island Marriott Beach Resort & Marina is looking for a FT Catering Event Coordinator to provide outstanding customer service to clients and support to the Sales team. The ideal candidate possesses excellent organizational skills, great communication and grace in all interactions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES and other duties as may be assigned related to this:

  • Administrative duties such as typing proposals, letters, contracts, etc.
  • Responding to client calls and special requests and obtain final details, dates, times and hotel room and meeting room requirements
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors
  • Fielding and qualifying incoming leads
  • Prospecting phone calls
  • Planning event details and aspects, including seating, dining, and guests
  • Creating reliable financial reports and collecting payments on time
  • Remaining under budget with all costs
  • Assisting with events and addressing potential problems that may arise
  • Planning for potential scenarios that could impact the integrity of the event
  • Coordinate outside vendor services needs where appropriate; and follow-up with client to ensure that arrangements meet their needs.
  • Other duties as assigned (guest room tours, property tours, special guest requests, maintaining calendars, answering phones and routing to appropriate sales staff, handling of mail, faxes, etc.)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required and minimum of one-year work-related experience; or equivalent combination of training and/or experience. Must be able to communicate clearly in English
