Position Purpose: The Salt Truck Drive’s responsibility is to perform tasks that involve final removal of all hazardous conditions on the parking surfaces due to snow and ice.

CDL Salt Driver Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operates vehicle in accordance with Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements as well as all local, state and federal requirements and Company expectations for the Fleet; maintains a clean and safe vehicle.
• Report usage of chemicals
• Uses proper plowing and salting techniques based on conditions
• Reports accurate # of times sites are serviced
• Completes Dispatch invoices
• Clocks in/out using provided GPS/DVIR device at start and end of shift.
• Completes Pre/post trip inspections.
• Reports breakdowns to Operations Support Department
• Follows correct and timely post-accident reporting and testing procedures
• Compliant with event application rate for Salt Truck
• Additional Duties as assigned.

CDL Salt Driver Education, Requirements and/or Professional Experience:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid CDL License with airbrakes endorsement.
• Acceptable driving record.
• The ability pass a background check.
• The ability to pass a drug test.
• Valid DOT medical card.

CDL Salt Driver Skills/Qualifications:

• 1 year of truck driving experience.
• Knowledge of equipment operation.
• On-Call daily availability from October 15th to April 15th.
• Must have a smart phone that can download timekeeping application.

CDL Salt Driver Physical Requirements:

• Required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift, grasp, carry, push, and pull for long period of time.
• Must be able to lift and/or move 50 pounds plus.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• The ability to work under strenuous, inclement weather outdoors for extended periods of time.
