Family Development Services is a Non-Profit Organization headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, that is responsible for supporting the largest Headstart program in the state of Indiana. With 10 locations, Family Development Services provides services across the greater Indianapolis area.

The Headstart program provides critical foundational education for Early Childhood students. In addition to Early Headstart and Preschool programming, programs with Family Development Services also include essential wrap around services to provide a higher quality of life for children and their families.

The Assistant Floating Center Director serves as support for the centers, ensuring compliance with all programs policies/procedures and Head Start, licensing or other regulations.

Duties:

  • Assistant Center Director supports recruitment of children and families for center capacity.
  • Ensures all required testing, screenings, height/weight measurements, etc. are completed in accordance with the Performance Standards and agency policies.
  • Review and monitor facility budget.
  • Assist in interviewing and recommending hiring of teaching and service staff.
  • Confer with parents regarding facility activities, policies, and enrollment procedures
  • Confer with teaching staff regarding the behavioral or learning problems of our Head Start children and recommend methods to modify inappropriate behavior and encourage learning experiences.
  • Assistant Center Director reviews and evaluates facility activities to ensure conformance to federal, state and local regulations.
  • Assistant Center Director arranges medical attention for ill or injured children in accordance with parental instructions.
  • Perform classroom teaching duties as needed due to absences.
  • Assist Center Director in conducting daily, weekly and monthly classroom observations.
  • Communicate with children, parents, staff, and the public in a courteous and respectful manner.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or equivalent degree with 36 credit hours of ECE coursework (Preferred)
  • 2+ Years of Classroom/Teaching/ Education Experience (Preferred)
  • Experience Managing an Infant/Toddler or preschool Program (Preferred)
  • Ability to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Ability to exert a minimum of 50lbs of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects unassisted
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills and use good judgement
  • Strong Office 365 Skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $45,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
