Central Laboratory Scientist

The Amalgamated Sugar Company LLC – Twin Falls, Idaho

The Amalgamated Sugar Company LLC is seeking a Central Laboratory Scientist with a focus on testing and analysis to conduct laboratory tests and processes with high accuracy and integrity as well as process multiple types of samples, utilizing varied methods and techniques. This position will develop and validate new methods, implement the use of new instrumentation, and support the factory laboratories regarding analytical concerns. More specifically, the Central Laboratory Scientist will guide all centralized testing as well as assist with other chemical analyses.

Additional Responsibilities:

· Assist in the development and maintenance of Central Laboratory’s American Association for Laboratory Accreditation Certification (A2LA).

· Supervisory duties in the absence of the Central Laboratory Supervisor/Central Laboratory Lead Chemist.

· Facilitate chemical waste removal, ordering supplies, purchasing equipment.

· Promote good housekeeping and laboratory safety.

· Develop and trains other analysts on new analytical techniques.

· Assist in the maintenance of the company’s Methods of Analysis book for use at all company locations.

· Have good written and verbal communication skills; read and understand verbal and written policies, procedures, safety and environmental requirements.

· Preliminary reviewer of analytical results, checking them for accuracy prior to distribution of the reports.

· Organize and/or perform maintenance of the analytical equipment.

· Responsible for report generation and basic supervisory duties in the absence of the Central Laboratory Supervisor.

· Assist with various laboratory duties related to testing and monitoring.

· Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree is required in chemistry, biology, microbiology or related field.

· Minimum 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting with preference toward analytical methods development and implementation.

· Considerable knowledge of Laboratory Processes and Regulations.

· Significant knowledge of standard quality and safety practices.

· Ability to read and interpret safety information & placards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,013.26 - $50,223.63 per year
