POSITION SUMMARY

The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Technician administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients. Other related duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATION

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Hold a diploma from an accredited institution in one of the following professions to meet the minimum education requirements: Respiratory Therapist; Physician’s Assistant; EMT or Paramedic; Military Corpsman; Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse; Nurse

Practitioner; Physician or Physiologist; Certified Nurse Aide, Certified Medical Assistant, and Patient Care Technician.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year experience as a hyperbaric technician, or one year experience working in an acute hospital care environment

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 1year hospital experience and / or experience with wound care and hyperbaric medicine.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Must complete Introductory Hyperbaric Training Course as approved by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology within 90 days of hire. Must be certified and/or licensed in one of the following: Respiratory Therapist; Physician’s Assistant; EMT or Paramedic; Military Corpsman; Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse; Nurse Practitioner; Physician or Physiologist; Certified Nurse Aide, Certified Medical Assistant, and Patient Care Technician.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Certified Hyperbaric Technologist from the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology.

REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): ): BLS-Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center.
