Healthcare Resource Network is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant to work at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Charleston SC.

Minimum Requirements/Knowledge/Skills:

  • Two (2) years field experience within the last three years
  • Good driving record and excellent driving skills required
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task; ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
  • One (1) year experience in occupational health or related experience such as public health/community health, outpatient clinic, emergency department or ambulatory healthcare, or physician office – Preferred

Minimum Education Requirements/Certification/Licensure/Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) program
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) training and possess current certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

Medical Assistant Duties and Responsibilities:

Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance, per government requirements

Must comply with the educational, experience, and licensing requirements for employment at a federal medical facility at each state/location

Shall meet the licensing competency and professional qualifications required by the state for which hired

Service Operations

Welcomes clients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries

Performs standard diagnostic procedures including, but not limited to vital signs, ECG, phlebotomy, venipuncture, TB skin testing, and immunizations

Assist Clinic Nurse Manager (CNM) with orientation for new staff

Prepares clients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room, arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment

Provide non-emergency care to clients under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN)

Responds to emergency calls when required and renders emergency services as needed

Excellent analytical, conceptual, verbal, and written communication skills required

Strong interpersonal and troubleshooting skills required

Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as requested

Procurement

Report supply issues such as low par levels to the Clinic Nurse Manager

Quality & Safety

Participate in Quality Assurance activities, data analysis and review to make improvements within clinic operations

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Customer Service

  • Supports operational leaders in implementing and sustaining patient experience improvement initiatives
  • Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills

Governance

  • Completes and complies with written Standard Operating Procedures, Policies, and applicable staff competencies

Staffing

  • Report site-specific problems to the Clinic Nurse Manager (e.g., staffing difficulties, supply issues, environment of care hazards, onsite operational emergencies, etc.) in a timely manner
  • Assist CNM with orientation for new staff

Technology

  • Intermediate computer skills are essential in use of an electronic medical record

Metrics

  • Must be competent in basic Microsoft Office suite programs
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Physical Demands

  • Sustain repetitive movement (CPR compressions, etc.)
  • Maintain physical tolerance (stand/walk/work on your feet for 8-12 hours at a time)
  • Push, pull, lift 35 pounds of weight (position, transfer, ambulate patient, move equipment)

Supervision: As a contractor, the staff member is directly supervised by CNM and works within the Koniag’s supervisory structure and must meet the terms of the Customer contract. The staff member receives day-to-day programmatic /operational guidance from a designated contract supervisor.

Supervisor’s Title: Clinic Nurse Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Schedule: PRN during clinic hours Monday-Friday (10 hour days 7am-5:30 pm). No evenings, weekends or holidays. PRN staff backfill for FT staff and work on as as needed basis
