Your care is performed and managed by our team of medical professionals which is composed of your physician or physician's assistant and their registered nurses and medical assistants.
As primary care physicians, we will serve as your first point of entry into the health care system and as the continuing focal point for all needed health care services. Our physicians and staff will serve as your advocates in all health-related matters; including the appropriate use of consultations, health services, and community resources. Our physicians promote provider-patient communication and encourage our patients to take on an active role as a partner in their health care.

SUMMARY
As medical assistants are not licensed professionals they are always required by law to work under the direct supervision of a licensed physician, registered nurse, nurse practitioner or physician assistant whenever they provide direct (hands-on) patient care procedures. A medical assistant is responsible for interviewing patients, measuring vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and recording information on patients' charts and preparing treatment rooms for examination of patients. Medical assistants may also be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. It is an expectation to maintain a calm, courteous and professional demeanor at all times regardless of a visitor's behavior. Some personal qualities that a medical assistant is expected to have in order to do the job successfully include: attentiveness, a well groomed appearance, initiative, loyalty, maturity, respect for confidentiality and discretion, a positive attitude and dependability, and the ability to perform multiple tasks quickly and efficiently.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices running smoothly.
2. Perform many administrative duties, including answering telephones, greeting patients, updating and filing patients’ medical records, filling out insurance forms, handling correspondence, scheduling appointments, arranging for hospital admission and laboratory services.
3. Clinical duties vary and include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the physician during the examination.
4. Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens or performing basic laboratory tests on the premises, disposing of contaminated supplies, and sterilizing medical instruments.
5. Medical assistants arrange examining-room instruments and equipment, purchase and maintain supplies and equipment, and keep waiting and examining rooms neat and clean.
6. They instruct patients about medications and special diets, prepare and administer medications as directed, authorize drug refills as directed, telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy, draw blood, prepare patients for X-rays, take electrocardiograms, and change dressings.
7. They serve as direct link and communicator between patient and health care professionals/providers whenever there is a need.
8. Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
1. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Knowledge of Microsoft office and telephone protocol. Computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications. Duties require professional verbal and written communication. Visibility of work requires attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and discretion with confidential information.
3. Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
4. Job requires medical assistant certificate and/or 1-2 years of experience in a related field and familiarity with standard medical concepts, practices, and procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for a medical office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. At times, the job may be stressful due to interaction with many different people with different types of personalities. A medical assistant is expected to be able to perform multiple tasks quickly. A medical assistant will work under the immediate supervision of a physician and reports to a supervisor or manager.
