Indirect: Certified Medical Assistants may oversee non-certified peers


Job Summary
: The CMA/LPN is responsible for performing a variety of duties working collaboratively with the medical provider and office manager/supervisor. They may be involved in both the clinical and clerical duties of the practice in order to deliver optimal patient care services within the scope of the CMA/LPN's professional expertise. CMA's/LPN's may provide care which is considered routine, poses little potential hazard for the patient, involve little or no modification from one client-care situation to another, be performed with a predictable outcome, or does not inherently involve ongoing assessments, interpretations, or decision-making, which could not be logically separated from the procedure itself.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Collects vitals, weight, and patient information and completes any initial testing in preparation for provider

Clean, stock, prepare exam rooms

Prepare labs/administer injections

Educate patients and family on at home medication administration

Assist with inventory and supply management

Send prescription refill information to pharmacies

Detailed documentation

Prior authorizations - med and procedures

Maintain medication sample logs

Call patients with results of visit and any information left in clinical inbox from providers

Performs other duties as assigned

Certified Medical Assistants may guide/direct/oversee non-certified peers

Education Experience: Technical School

Years of Related Experience: 1-2 Years

License/Certificate Required: Yes

Driver's License Required: Yes

Travel Requirements: None

Age Requirement: 18+


Job Requirements
:

Communication skills

1 year clinical experience

Comfortable with administering injections and performing venipuncture

Ability to multi-task and consistently meet multiple deadlines

Strong attention to detail

Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate

Basic computer skills

Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn office's electronic medical record

Patient compassion & empathy

Ability to work with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality


Preferred Skills:

Experience with AllScripts
