Certified Medical Coder Job at Associated Physician Partners
Associated Eye Care is currently seeking an Internal Auditor. This position is responsible for performing internal audits, facilitating external audits, analyzing data, providing necessary training to personnel and reporting audit results to organizational leaders. The Internal Auditor is responsible for educating providers and staff on coding rules as well as local and non-local policies and procedures to ensure compliancy.
Essential Functions
- Performs internal chart audits for Associated Eye Care, AEC Ambulatory Surgery Center, and AEC Optical; provides training for personnel based on results, and reports outcome and recommendations to management
- Participates in external chart review process for Associated Eye Care, AEC Ambulatory Surgery Center, and AEC Optical; gathers necessary chart information, provides training for personnel based on results, and reports outcome and recommendations to management
- Works collaboratively with operations and surgical personnel on changes in practice that could have an impact on billing, coding, or reimbursement, i.e., new equipment, devices, surgeries, or studies
- Provides coding training and ongoing review for incoming residents
- Stays current with CPT and ICD-10 changes and educates personnel accordingly
- Stays updated on EPM and EHR processes
- Continuing education: maintains certification(s), attends necessary training, seminars, or webinars
Other Essential Functions
- Must present self at the workstation, ready for work, at the scheduled time
- Create an exception patient experience
- Communicate effectively with supervisor, manager, and/or director
- Participates in department and company meetings, as requested
- Work as a team with other departments
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education & Licensing
- High School Diploma, or equivalent, required
- Coding Certification Required (one of the below, or similar)
- CPC
- CCS
- CCS-P
- RHIT
- RHIA
Experience
- Experience in healthcare industry with medical terminology, medical billing and coding, CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS preferred
- Auditing experience preferred
- Ophthalmology experience preferred
- NextGen experience preferred
Job Specific Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of chart review/auditing training, CPT and ICD-10 coding, health insurance, medical billing procedures in a clinical and surgical setting
