The Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment (CADT) located in Duluth, MN is nonprofit agency dedicated to assisting people seeking recovery from substance use and abuse. CADT believes in meeting patients where they are at in their recovery journey and implements harm reduction strategies as well as more traditional approaches to treatment. CADT offers a full spectrum of care including, detoxification, withdrawal management, medication assisted treatment, residential and outpatient substance use treatment.

Peer Recovery Specialist
Peer support services are to be provided before, during and after substance use disorder treatment to help individuals connect with resources that support recovery. Peers are individuals who are willing to share their personal recovery experience and often engage quickly with individuals to offer reassurance, reduce fears, answer questions, support motivation, and convey hope.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as a resource for clients.
- Accompany client to appointments that support recovery.
- Provide education, advocacy and mentoring through self-disclosure of personal recovery experience.
- Provide assistance to access resources to obtain housing, employment, education, and advocacy services.
- Provide non-clinical recovery support to assist the transition from treatment into the recovery community.
- Assist new intakes with direction and provide guidance.
- Maintain positive public relations with referring agencies and businesses in the community.
- Locate appropriate staff members and/or supervisor to respond to client needs when necessary.
- Monitor clients providing urine for analysis as needed.
Qualifications
- Hold a current credential from a certification body approved by the commissioner that demonstrates skills and training in the domains of ethics and boundaries, advocacy, mentoring and education, and recovery and wellness support.
- Possess a working knowledge of issues regarding confidentiality.
- Have a High School Diploma or equivelant
- At the time of hire, must have a minimum of one year of recovery from substance use disorder.
- Preferred to have a Drivers License
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
