Certified Peer Support Specialist- McDowell

Western NC Community Health Services (WNCCHS) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). We are committed to caring for our patients with purpose and integrity and providing our team members with the support they need.

We are looking a full-time Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) to join our growing team. The CPSS is living in recovery with mental illness and/or substance use disorder and provides support to others who can benefit from their lived experiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES- Includes but not limited to the following:

· Provide peer support to clients with mental health and/or substance abuse challenges

· Serve as an advocate for and on behalf of clients’ rights

· Promote socialization, recovery, self-sufficiency, self-advocacy, development of natural supports, and maintenance of skills learned in other support services

· Provide coaching, mentoring, and consultation

· Collaborate with multidisciplinary team

· Promote wellness management strategies

· Teach and roll model-life skills and skills to cope with increased stress and emotional difficulties

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Preferred Two (2) years of direct substance abuse experience, preferably in Harm Reduction setting such as a Methadone or Suboxone Clinic

· Must be a NC Certified Peer Support Specialist

· Current and unrestricted North Carolina driver’s license
