Our ideal candidate will be an experienced human resources (HR) executive able to align HR services and expertise in support of organizational and people effectiveness in a dynamic and rewarding mission-focused environment. In this role, the Chief Human Resource Officer will lead an HR and leadership development team who act as the point-of-contact for employees at all levels, ensuring the successful delivery of programs, policies, and culture and talent activities. This role operates a both a collaborative strategist and a tactician with a strong focus on organizational effectiveness and problem solving. As a direct report to the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent is a trusted member of the executive leadership team. This position leads the human resources team to collaboratively drive strategy and provide a high level of service while guiding and coaching employees in all areas of human resource.

Desired education and experience:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years human resources executive leadership experience, preferably in a healthcare environment, required
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or closely related field required
  • Master’s degree in human resources of closely related field preferred
  • SHRM-SCP Certification or SPHR Certification strongly preferred
  • A certification in Executive Coaching is preferred

Responsibilities/General Duties:

  • Develops and executes HR strategies and operational plans that directly support the organization’s mission, vision, goals and objectives; aligns HR team approaches with organizational culture and strategy.
  • Leads strategic workforce design and succession planning activities.
  • Leads leadership development function and creation of NVHC University.
  • Build culture to improve employee retention, as well as aid in talent acquisition, and facilitate/build relationships to mine new talent pools.
  • Lead change management efforts as it relates to human capital.
  • Partners with leaders as they develop business objectives and operational plans to define the related people enablers necessary to deliver desired outcomes; guides an support leaders to bring the best experience and solutions to employees; builds a strong and trusted relationship with internal customers.
  • Serves as a steward of the NVHC philosophy, policies, practices and governance in handling employee matters; leads and manages sensitive employee relations topics including executive escalations; ensures equitable resolution to employee issues.
  • Proactively identifies issues, leverages resources, recommends solutions and ensures consistency across teams; anticipates needs, diagnoses problems, identifies and drives appropriate solutions, and successfully collaborates to deliver results.
  • On-boards new employees; expands learning and development opportunities for leaders and staff ensuring a skilled, committed and inclusive workforce.
  • Educate CEO on the benefits of workforce spending by impact on ROI.
  • Analyze human capital data and industry trends to guide recommendations on company policies.
  • Collects feedback, trends to evolve practices, and processes accordingly.
  • Manages complex and difficult HR projects and issues cross-functionally.
  • Champions HR initiatives in support of the organization’s mission.
  • Coaches and counsels leadership and employees at all levels by serving as a confidential sounding board.
  • Influences organizational culture by motivating employees, demonstrating leadership, promoting communication, and by supporting a team philosophy.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven talent management and succession planning experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in a multicultural, professional environment; delivers difficult messages with professionalism and poise.
  • Demonstrated experience in multiple disciplines of human resources including knowledge of relevant employment law.
  • Proven ability to work on topics that are complex and sensitive in nature where independent action and a high degree of initiative are required in resolving problems and developing recommendations; comfortable working in ambiguous business situations.
  • Ability to think strategically and translate concepts into actionable items; proven ability to identify, assess, and diagnose needs and issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving, and discernment; strong coaching, influencing, and feedback skills.
  • Proficiency in mentoring employees and helping them expand their knowledge and influence within NVHC.
  • Ability to develop credible relationships.
  • Confident communicator capable of effectively presenting to all levels of the organization.
