Clinical Pharmacy Specialist - Emergency Department

As a full-time, exempt CPS Solutions, LLC Clinical Pharmacy Specialist - Emergency Department you will provide quality, comprehensive bedside patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team. Clinical services consist of the identification of drug-related problems in patients presenting to the ED, provision of recommendations regarding drug therapy, and direct patient care at the bedside. Situational awareness and task prioritization in the ED is vital to address the needs of the most critically ill patients. Active participation in medical decision-making is expected and valued. Pharmacists are involved in medication ordering and drug preparation in emergent situations to facilitate patient care. Providing didactic lectures and simulation training for ED multidisciplinary team members is expected, as is precepting pharmacy students and PGY1 residents. Involvement in performance improvement activities including quality initiatives with multidisciplinary collaboration is encouraged and supported. This position will also supervise the ED Medication Reconciliation Pharmacy Technicians.

Schedule: This position is scheduled to work at least 40 hours per week. A typical schedule in this role will be weekdays Monday-Friday from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. This position will be on call every 5 weeks.

Facility: JFK Medical Center, a member of the Hackensack Meridian Health System, located in Edison, NJ is a non-profit 498-bed community hospital, serving residents of Middlesex, Union, and Somerset counties in Central New Jersey. With more than 900 affiliated physicians, JFK offers a complete array of advanced services including general and specialized surgery, neurology, cardiac care, rehabilitation, maternity and pediatric care, and emergency medicine. JFK is also a Joint Commission Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, specially equipped with the diagnostic capability to diagnose and treat all complex stroke cases, including brain aneurysms. CPS Solutions, LLC has partnered with the hospital to manage the day-to-day operations of this pharmacy. This position is an employee of CPS Solutions, LLC.

Required Qualifications:

• PharmD. Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy
• Current NJ pharmacist license in good standing
• Completion of an Emergency Medicine PGY-2 residency or at least 3 years of appropriate clinical experience preferred
• BCPS or willing to obtain in the first year of employment
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS or willing to obtain in the first year of employment
• Ability to work and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated skill in leading, mentoring, and training pharmacy and healthcare staff
• Demonstrated skill in collaborating with prescribers to achieve desired outcomes
• Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)

Hospital Requirements: (may be required)

(PPD) TB Skin Test - Proof of negative TB skin test within the last 12 months

(MMR) Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or A Blood Titer proving immunity

Varicella - (2) documented doses or A Blood Titer proving

Hep B3 Series (or declination)

(Flu) Influenza-required for hire between Oct 1st-April 30th
