Bridgeport Health Care Center is seeking an Clinical Staff Educator
Summary Description
The Clinical Staff Educator will be responsible for developing, organizing, and conducting staff training and education in accordance with clinical standards of care, CMS and OHFLAC. This individual will coordinate and teach the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program at several locations in northern WV. This position will also function in the role of Unit Charge Nurse-RN when needed.
Education and Experience Requirements
Graduate of an accredited school for registered professional nurses and must possess a current, unencumbered, active license in the state of West Virginia. Two (2) years RN experience required with at least one of those years in Long Term Care.
Must have management and leadership ability, organizational skills, excellent communication skills, creativity, integrity, and ability to work with individuals of all education levels.
Must possess and maintain current CPR certification or acquire a CPR certification within 90 days of date of hire
- Assist and collaborate with state certification center to ensure test eligible candidates are scheduled and have knowledge of test site and requirements
- Serve as the program instructor for the CNA course curriculum in accordance with the standards set forth by the Office of Health Facility Licensure & Certification (OFLAC).
- Support and assist in interview process for CNA class candidates.
- Maintain accurate records on all CNA students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules, and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content
- Evaluate and documents students' progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills required as a CNA in a Skilled Nursing Facility environment.
- Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skill development, and concepts of good resident/patient care
- Develop, organize, and conduct clinical in-service(s) education and training and assist with clinical orientation as needed
- Coordinate and teach feeding assistant classes
- Function as a UCN-RN demonstrating appropriate and applicable skills in accordance with AMFM and clinical standard of care.
- Be proficient with use of an electronic health record, analysis of data, and Microsoft Office software.
