We currently are looking to add a full-time 2nd Shift CNC Machining Center Set Up & Operator – 3, 4 & 5 Axis Experience to our team at our Northeast Philadelphia, PA facility. As the CNC Machining Center Set Up & Operator, the team member will:

  • Select, measure, assemble, and set machine tools, such as drill bits and milling or cutting tools, using precision gauges and instruments.
  • Lift workpiece to machine with hoist or crane. Mounts, installs, aligns, and secures tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpiece on machine, including using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Load control media in machine controller or enter commands to retrieve programmed instructions.
  • Determine specifications or procedures for tooling set-up, machine operation, workpiece dimensions, or numerical control sequences, using blueprints, instructions, and machine knowledge.
  • Calculate and set machine controls to position tools, or regulate cutting depth, speed, feed, or coolant flow. Monitor machine operation and control panel displays to detect malfunctions and compare readings to specifications.
  • Start automatic operation of computer numerical control machine to machine parts or test setup, workpiece dimensions, or programming.
  • Stop machine to remove finished workpiece or change tooling, setup, or workpiece placement, according to required machining sequence. Enter commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or tolerances.
  • Confer with supervisor or programmer to resolve machine malfunctions and production errors and obtains approval to continue production.

  • Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Operations Analysis - Analyzing needs and product requirements to create a design.
  • Equipment Selection - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Troubleshooting - Determines cause of operation error and decides what to do.
  • Problem Identification - Identifying the nature of problems.
  • Active Learning - Working with new material or information to grasp its implications.
  • Solution Appraisal - Observing and evaluating the outcomes of a problem solution to identify lessons learned or redirect efforts.
  • Time Management - Managing one's own time.
  • Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.


Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus 2-3 years related experience.
