In a high volume, fast paced environment, the collection specialist is responsible for contacting multiple types of commercial customers to improve delinquency, increase cash flow and reduce DSO, while maintaining a professional and customer centric attitude.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


In a fast paced, team and goal-oriented credit and collections department, duties include:

  • Make outbound collection contacts in a professional manner, fostering customer relationships.
  • Identify, research, and resolve customer issues and discrepancies.
  • Prepare pay applications, lien releases and other related close out documents as required.
  • Create and update reports, assist collection manager with month-end processes.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with cross functional teams and multiple business units.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum 2- or 4- year college degree in applicable business field.
  • Experience in a construction business environment or related field preferred.
  • Proven record in customer focused activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office-Excel and Word.
  • Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Travel


Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals. Must have ability to write routine reports and correspondence.


Reasoning Ability

Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.


Computer Skills

To preform this job successfully, an individual should have excellent written and verbal communications skills, intermediate level Microsoft Word and Excel skills and a thorough understanding of computer basics.
