Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Student Accounts, the Collections Representative is responsible for working to support the collection efforts of the school and the development of a student-service centered Student Financial Services operation. The Collections Representative handles the collection of past due balances within current and previous semesters.

Primary Responsibilities:*

1. Accounts receivable management and collection of past due balances. Proactively communicates with students regarding their account status and review accounts for existing and potential aid and counsels students and parents on payment options.
2. Manage the Third-Party deferral and payments process. Coordinate with the Finance Office to identify wire payments for third party students. To resolve any discrepancies and clear outstanding balances and issues. Bill all Third-Party entities company deferment and other third-parties; billing, handling questions and following up on payments. Works with the Finance Office to process returned checks, including updating the student account and notifying the student.
3. Actively pursue debts not within the current term, using discretion and independent judgement to settle past due balances and make specialized payment arrangements. Call, email, invoice, compose personalized letters and meet in-person with those with outstanding balances. Work with the Assistant Director to recommend placement of bad debt accounts with outside collection agencies for those balances not addressed. Initiates payment arrangements and monitor payment history. Creating, tracking and maintaining in-house payment plans for students who have past due and current balances.
4. Work with the Assistant Director of Student Accounts in routine outreach as well as with special projects aimed at managing College Accounts Receivables and track Accounts Receivable statistics on a weekly basis for all current term students. Twice a year, initiate outreach (weekly email blasts and call campaigns) for Student Health Insurance. Manage the Tuition Insurance waiver process. On a daily basis, monitor the SFS mailbox and handle Student Account inquires.
5. Assist with front desk coverage and various Student Financial Services mailing, call and outreach campaigns including email merge messaging. Serve as Office Manager, ordering office supplies and stationery (letterhead, envelopes, business cards), and coding invoices for Accounts Payable. Keep records of invoices and provide data on expenditures as requested.
6. Participate in recruitment and retention functions (new student orientations, registration nights, Admitted Student days, Open house, Move-In Day etc).
