Communications Outreach Coordinator
Position Summary:
The Communication Outreach Coordinator communicates timely information about the GLITC organization with members of the public. The Communication Outreach Coordinator fulfills an ambassador role and regularly interacts with tribal and all other communities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meeting with members of the public and tribal communities to answer questions and gather information.
- Developing content strategies for releasing updates.
- Work on and communicate strategic planning efforts.
- Hosting special events and cultural events that promote important historical dates and holidays.
- Conducting interviews between members of GLITC and all other stakeholders, partners, and groups.
- Maintain positive relationships with all media outlets.
- Assisting executive management in creating, cultivating, and the continuance of a positive public image for the GLITC organization.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Engage in ongoing networking activities for continuous relationship building.
- Assure that all services are delivered in a culturally competent manner.
- Development of a monthly or quarterly review or newsletter.
- Participate on committees, both internally and externally, as deemed necessary and appropriate.
- Attend all training sessions and meetings as scheduled.
- Attend conferences, seminars, workshops, and other education events to remain current on technological and informational advances as applicable.
- Perform other duties as necessary or as assigned to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
This is a full- time exempt position working at the worksite Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council in Lac Du Flambeau, Wisconsin. The salary range is $50,000 to $52,000 based upon experience, with benefits including: Annual/Personal Leave and Holiday Pay; Health, Dental, Life & AD&D, STD and LTD Insurance, FSA and 401k Retirement Plan. Regular work hours are normally Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm and will usually average 40-45 hours a week. There will be some variation in work hours due to special projects, deadlines, and other concerns. Work is performed at the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council Office. This is not a remote position. Appropriate travel as dictated by the needs of the position is required to execute the functions of this position. Drug Testing required before hire.
Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, English or Journalism. Desired: Experience with a Native American Tribal organization and/or not-for profit agency desirable. Individual must possess: possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills; strong computer skills; professional demeanor and appearance; problem solving skills; ability to manage time effectively; self-motivation skills; work effectively under pressure; ability to build positive work relationships with internal and external customers; ability to deliver presentations to a wide range of groups, stakeholders, and partners; ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of people. Individual must be able to apply advanced reasoning skills to problem solving and use basic and advanced mathematical skills. Must possess valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation with adequate insurance and ability to travel.
