COMMUNITY LIFE DIRECTOR | FULL TIME | SALARIED

In the role of Community Life Director, you will design and implement a diverse and stimulating program of activities that meets the physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual needs of the Residents at Academy University Hill.

Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, and host monthly activities that address the various needs of the Residents. Daily activities and/or outings should include a minimum of four hours of programming, seven days a week. Activities should include occasions for residents to invite family members and friends to visit.
  • Provide or arrange transportation to all off-campus, Academy-sponsored events, and, along with other Community Life staff, assist in driving Academy vehicles when necessary.
  • Supervise and direct activities of the Community Life Assistants so that their duties are performed efficiently and consistently. Assist Community Life Assistants on outings and in the implementation of Independent and Assisted Living in-house activities, as needed.
  • Create and produce, with other Community Life staff, the monthly activities calendar.
  • Create and distribute event and activity information in a timely manner to the involved parties (residents, family, staff, and community).
  • Communicate in an exemplary manner with Residents about activities and changes in activities.
  • Coordinate the set-up and clean-up of all activities and in-house events.
  • Supervise and direct all internal Special Events, including planning and accurate billing/accounting.
  • Ensure maintenance, set-up, and oversight of all audio-visual equipment.
  • Serve as a member of Manager-on-Duty team, as assigned and in the regular rotation schedule.
  • Provide marketing assistance on an as needed basis in the form of conducting tours of the facility.
  • Manage the departments within the financial boundaries of the annual operating budget, seeking required approvals if significant deviations are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent desired in a related field
  • Demonstrated competence in software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Basic camera and audio-visual skills.
  • Experience creating fun and enjoyable experiences.
  • Expertise in organizing and decorating for parties and events.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Ability to build effective work relationships at all levels, influence behavior, and lead change
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and developteam members
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and reliability on the job
  • Honesty, integrity, sense of humor, and pleasant demeanor – ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Empathy toward the elderly and to geriatric issues and challenges

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
