Aquatics Center Supervisor
Position Type
Part-time year round position with approximately 30 hours per week. Hours primarily between 7am-1pm Monday-Friday
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility
- Able to act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service
- Attends mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled
- Maintains a clean facility performing house cleaning duties
- Assists Lifeguard personnel with knowledge of policies and procedures as well as departmental goals and objectives
- Orients new lifeguards to job duties and responsibilities
- Occasionally assists with inservice training
- Inventories and recognizes when supplies or equipment need to be ordered and communicates the needs to the Aquatics Supervisor
- Assist with basic administrative duties including but not limited to, filing papers, answering voicemails, preparing rosters and
- Assist supervisor as requested

- Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with patrons, supervisors, and other employees.
- Ability to remain alert, attentive, and responsible.
- Ability to be a team player
- Ability to perform tasks requiring physical strength and/or stamina to effectively rescue victims, administer first aid, and CPR;
- Ability to perform work, which involves frequent lifting, pushing and pulling of heavy objects;
- Ability to hear and distinguish a variety of sounds in a noisy environment such as participants in need of assistance, whistles, or co-workers requesting assistance in a rescue effort;
- Ability to see patrons in need of assistance from any distances;
- Ability to speak loudly to warn program participants of impending danger
- Experience
- Age 18 years or older
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
- Previous lifeguard experience
- Additional Requirements
- Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (required)
- Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification (preferred but not required)
- SwimAmerica Instructor and Site supervisor (optional)
- CPO (optional)
- Must be willing to work mornings and mid-day. Occasional evenings and weekend hours available if desired
- Working knowledge of lifesaving techniques
- Strong swimming and life saving abilities
Schedule and Location
Shifts vary Monday through Sunday at the New Prague Fitness and Aquatic Center. This position would include approximately 30 hours per week. Hours primarily between 7am-1pm Monday-Friday.
Training
Lifeguard and SwimAmerica instructor certification classes are provided at the New Prague Aquatic Center multiple times during the year. Check for upcoming classes. Certification class scholarships are available for current and future FAC staff.
Attendance at monthly/bimonthly staff trainings is required
