Job Description

Our Legal Dept. is currently comprised of four attorneys and two paralegals. This is a new position, and will bring us to four attorneys, two paralegals and a compliance manager.

This position will report to the Managing Counsel and could be located in either our offices in Calabasas, California or our offices in Louisville, Kentucky. This position will assist the Managing Counsel with compliance in areas such as data privacy protection, international sanctions, consumer products, workplace safety accessibility, and the General Counsel with corporate governance. You must possess a strong analytical and detail-oriented skill set in order to evaluate the complex compliance issues affecting the company and offer practical solutions. You must also have exceptionally strong business acumen and the ability to work effectively and efficiently on multiple projects in a busy work environment and fast-growing company while being a critical go-to partner for business stakeholders.\


The compensation range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 per year.


What You’ll Do:

    • Manage the day-to-day regulatory compliance activities of PlanetArt’s people, products, and production operations;
    • Initiate, develop, and maintain compliance policies and procedures;
    • Monitor compliance activities within areas of designated subject matter responsibility, identify needed corrective actions, and confirm implementation;
  • Develop, implement and oversee a system for handling alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and recommend an appropriate means for resolution including, but not limited to, the initiation of an investigation;
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, develop/implement corrective action plans as appropriate, and provide general guidance on avoiding or dealing with similar situations in the future;
  • Provide reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts;
  • Ensure proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required;
  • Work with Human Resources and others as appropriate to develop an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees and ongoing training for all employees and managers;
  • Maintain compliance documentation in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, organizational policies and affiliate requirements;
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with various third-party compliance vendors and/or regulatory authorities, as applicable;
  • Stay abreast of environmental regulations applicable to PlanetArt’s production operations, complete and submit required filings, and coordinate related compliance activities;
  • Act as point person for responding to internal and external inquiries, communications, and audits relating to environmental and product policies and compliance; and
  • Provide OSHA, product and vendor compliance support to site personnel, as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in compliance, preferably with an emphasis on product, environmental, workplace safety, and data privacy;
  • Ability to make complex issues understandable;
  • Experience developing and administering programs in accordance with laws, regulations, and corporate policies; and
  • Experience executing duties with a high degree of fiscal responsibility and in accordance with budget.
