Compliance Manager (Banking) Job at Cambridge Trust Company

Researches, implements and manages compliance for the Bank, including banking regulation and laws, banking policies and procedures, consumer protection, external audits, and Community Reinvestment (“CRA”) regulations. Works closely with Enterprise Risk Manager in overseeing compliance procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the administration and oversight of the bank’s Consumer Compliance Program. Interprets federal and state laws and regulations that apply to credit, operations, and marketing practices of the Bank.
- Disseminates compliance information to appropriate staff.
- Coordinates and provides compliance training through memos, lender’s meetings, officer’s meetings, and other avenues, as appropriate and necessary.
- Monitors compliance with laws and regulations and coordinates any corrective actions.
- Performs consumer compliance audits and reports results to Business Unit Management and Director of Enterprise Risk and Compliance.
- Reviews implementation of Bank policies, procedures, forms, and training necessitated by changes in laws or regulations.
- Investigates and coordinates resolution of compliance problems, questions, or complaints received from branch staff, customers, or government regulatory agencies.
- Participates in development of new products to ensure proper consideration of regulatory issues affecting product.
- Coordinates and ensure that Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (“HMDA”) data is properly filed with proper government agency.
- Coordinates and actively manages Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (“FDIC”) and Massachusetts Division of Banks Compliance and Community Reinvestment Act (“CRA”) examinations, analyzes results and recommends corrective action consistent with state and federal regulations and bank policy.
- Coordinates and actively participates in third party audits.
- Audits or monitors identified high-risk areas for compliance; coordinates response and follows-up on corrective action; reports results of internal and regulatory examinations to Risk Committee.
- Participates in product development and changes as compliance resource or as required by regulatory changes.
- Reviews advertisements and other materials generated by Marketing Department for compliance.
- Participates in industry networks/committees.
- Completes or participates in special projects, as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent consumer compliance experience in a financial institution.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in bank compliance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of bank compliance and risk management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of bank operations and laws/regulations pertaining to community banks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret, understand, and apply laws and regulations.
- Ability to perform analytical and risk analysis.
