Job Summary:

Two distinct roles within the company;

Compliance functions report to the Compliance Committee and is responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Compliance Program to ensure its effectiveness. The Compliance Program includes development of a Compliance training program for all employees and ensuring proper reporting of Compliance incidents. The Compliance department will also perform other duties identified by the Compliance Committee.

Internal Audit measures and evaluates the effectiveness of internal controls. Internal Audit furnishes findings, conclusions, and recommendations concerning the activities reviewed to Management and the Board.

  • Newport Hospital and Health Services consists of:
    • 24 bed Rural Community Hospital - Trauma Level IV
    • 15 providers Rural Health Clinic
    • 72 – bed, high –level care, Advanced Assisted Living Facility
    • 42 – apartment; low-moderate care level Assisted Living Facility
    • In 2021 we celebrated our 100th year in operation servicing the local members of Newport, WA and the surrounding communities.

Education Background and Experience:

Minimum Education:


HS Grad or GED required, 3-5 years in healthcare compliance field

Bachelor degree in Business Administration or other Healthcare related field.


Required Licensure /

Certifications:


Healthcare Compliance Certification, or eligible to obtain


Required Experience:


3-5 years of experience preferred

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop, implement, oversee, and monitor the Compliance program.
  • Oversees and monitors Hospital wide compliance programs and revising the programs as changes in the law and policies and procedures of government and private health plans and as the needs of the Hospital dictate.
  • Reports to management and the Board on a regular basis the progress of implementation, to establish methods to improve operational efficiency and quality of service, and to reduce vulnerability to fraud, abuse, and waste.
  • Oversees of the development, coordination, and participation in education and training programs and tools that focus on the elements of the Hospital compliance program, and seek to ensure that all appropriate employees and management are knowledgeable of, and comply with, pertinent federal and state standards.
  • Ensures that independent contractors and agents who furnish medical services to the Hospital are aware of the requirements of the Hospital’s compliance program with respect to coding and billing, among other things.
  • Coordinates compliance personnel issues with the HR & Medical Staff departments to ensure that the National Practitioner Data Bank and Cumulative Sanction Report are checked with respect to all employees, medical staff, and independent contractors.
  • Coordinates internal compliance review and monitoring activities (internal audits), and to independently investigate and act on matters related to compliance and to develop corrective
  • Independently investigates and acts on matters relative to compliance, including the flexibility to design and coordinate internal investigations, and resulting corrective action with all affected parties.
