Computer Technician Job at Peerless Technologies
JOB DESCRIPTION *
Must be US Citizen to apply with ability to obtain Secret Clearance or already hold Secret Clearance.
We are seeking a qualified Computer Technician to join the Data Systems Support group for the Testing Division at NASA Glenn Research Center. Duties include:
- Working with operating systems Windows or Linux.
- Familiarity with network troubleshooting related to Optical Fiber, Cat5e/6 infrastructure and associated devices such as network switches, media converters, and extenders.
- Fabricating and terminating copper and fiber-optic cables.
- Troubleshooting or configuring PCs.
- Familiar with the use of fundamental electronic test equipment such as digital multi-meters or oscilloscopes.
- Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot electronic circuitry.
- Ability to solder.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Keeps records of work accomplished including creation and maintenance of procedures.
- Responsible for compliance with Company’s Safety, Health and Environmental Plan and all safety policies and procedures of the Company, including reporting of safety violations or potential violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.
- Know and adhere to Company policies, procedures and work rules and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
- Maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company.
- Responsible for completing all assigned training.
- Available to work first, second, and third shift, and on-call support.
- Ability to work on ladders and lift 40 pounds.
REQUIREMENTS
- Proactivity, flexibility and solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple individuals within a team.
- Familiarity with computers and standard office software (Word, Excel, etc).
- Excellent communication skills and experience directly supporting customers.
- Certifications helpful such as A+, Network+, etc. desired but not required
- Familiarity with Windows, Linux, etc.
- Technical certification or Associate Degree in a technical discipline, or two years’ experience in lieu of Associate Degree.
