Job Summary


The City of Woodstock is seeking two (2) Limited Part-Time Concessions Attendants/Bartenders with the Woodstock Opera House. This position is responsible to provide customer service via concession services and bartending for the Opera House and café facilities. The work is performed under the supervision of the Hospitality Manager. The position may work up to 20 hours per week with hours in the evenings and weekends (afternoons and evenings.)

Job Summary

The City of Woodstock is seeking four (4) Limited Part-Time Bartenders with the Woodstock Opera House. No experience is required for this entry level position - we will train! This position is responsible to provide customer service via concession services and bartending for the Opera House and café facilities. The work is performed under the supervision of the Hospitality Manager. The position may work up to 20 hours per week with hours in the evenings and weekends (afternoons and evenings.)

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides excellent concession service by taking counter orders, providing tableside service, preparing orders efficiently and processing payments.
  • Mixes traditional and custom cocktails for patrons with the ability to follow recipe instructions, attending to detail for the presentation of each order.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of liquors, beers, spirts, and wines with the ability to make recommendations for customers based on that knowledge.
  • Processes credit card and cash transactions, ensuring that all funds in the cash drawer are accounted for and balance, tabs are maintained and paid accurately, and sales are properly recorded and reported. Makes change as appropriate for cash transactions.
  • Maintains familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) software and basic knowledge of tablet and computer functions.
  • Verifies legal identification and age requirements of customers for serving alcoholic beverages. Obtains and maintains required BASSET certification.
  • Monitors patron intoxication levels and responds appropriately. Works with management when needed to maintain a safe environment.
  • Adheres to proper alcohol handling, sanitation, and safety procedures and maintains appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all beverage items.
  • Coordinates daily inventory supply for concession locations, submits product orders to manager, and assists with receipt of deliveries.
  • Contributes to daily, holiday and theme drink menus in collaboration with Hospitality Manager.
  • Completes cleaning according to daily and weekly schedules, including, but not limited to, taking out garbage and recycling, cleaning tables and seating areas, washing dishware, and equipment cleaning.
  • Provides high quality customer service, including resolving customer complaints, answering questions, and processing comments/suggestions in an appropriate manner.
  • Assists with basic sound/lighting/AV equipment set-up and tear-down as required in concession event spaces.
  • Answers telephone calls and accurately informs the public of events and activities at the Woodstock Opera House and Stage Left Café; relays messages to appropriate staff.


Minimum Qualifications and Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma/equivalent with previous customer service work experience which includes cash handling.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must obtain BASSET/Servsafe certification within 30 days from date of hire.

Salary: $20 - $30 per hour with combined base wage and tips. No additional benefits are provided.
