Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) is looking to hire a full-time Control Systems Engineer as part of the Power Supply Team located in Fairbanks, AK. GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,261 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 35 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all of the electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, extending from Homer to Fairbanks. As part of a team, the Control Systems Engineer implement the control systems in Dispatch and Generation Plants by providing technical support, monitoring system health and developing plans. Some of the systems include SCADA/EMS package for System Dispatchers and SCADA, graphics with related networked devices and communications protocols with various media types. This position operates across the Power Supply Division and interfaces with other Divisions, contractors and external agencies.
GVEA's Control Systems Engineer plays an integral role in our ability to serve the Interior of Alaska by providing reliable electric service at fair and reasonable prices!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering
- PE certification desired.
- Valid Alaska driver's license is required.
- Experience supporting industrial control hardware and software in a real-time computing environment as a trainee or entry level technician.
- Windows OS's NT, networking, relational databases, Microsoft Application Development environment, and distributed and client-server computing environment preferred.

WORK SCHEDULE
This position typically works 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Additional hours as required.
