Job Brief

Our CareerNet Approved client, is a high growth transportation and logistics organization, currently seeking a Controller to join their expanding team in Southwest Florida. We are searching for a self-starter who is eager and open-minded to learn and grow professionally alongside Company leadership. The ideal candidate will have the drive to succeed in a fast-paced environment, is willing and able to support the day-to-day and month-end accounting functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Direct the preparation, review, and distribution of all financial reports

· Maintain detailed and accurate reconciliation schedules for all accounts

· Continually evaluate and optimize month-end close processes, striving to deliver process automation, and improved accuracy

· Provide guidance to junior team members

· Direct general ledger month-end close process, and ensure journal entries are accurate to the unit, cost center, department, and account level

· Supervise, develop, establish, and review goals for the accounting team

· Provide leadership to strengthen staff with a commitment to mentoring and training

· Maintain fixed assets register and generate monthly depreciation calculation

· Support as requested in the annual financial audit process, taxes, and other compliance activities

· Manage relationships with current and prospective vendors, fellow employees, banks, and lenders

· Set and facilitate general accounting structure, improvements, and AP workflow processes to increase accuracy and efficiency in a consistent manner

· Supervise the activities of the Accounting Department to ensure timeliness and accuracy of:

o Payroll processing and payments

o Accrued expenses for fuel and payroll

o Notes payable

· Other accounting and administrative functions as necessary

Job Requirements, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Work experience as an Accounting Manager, Controller, or similar role
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and legislation
• Hands-on experience with general ledger accounts payable functions
• CPA preferred
• BSc or MSc in Accounting or Finance preferred
• Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including effective interpersonal and collaboration skills
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Familiarity with the following Microsoft Office applications:

o Excel

o Outlook

o OneDrive

o Teams
