We are seeking Controls Engineers that are looking for a real growth opportunity. The Controls Engineers will work with our maintenance and technical staff to support existing production operations and with our Senior Level Controls Engineering staff to help deploy and commission new equipment, control systems, and automation systems as we upgrade our Van Buren facility.
The Controls Engineers will provide support of all equipment control systems and automation systems throughout the facility, including motion control systems, robot systems, programmable logic controllers, operator interfaces, industrial networks, and SCADA systems. Utilizing their knowledge of industrial controls and automation, these engineers will provide production equipment support to help minimize downtime, improve operating efficiencies, facilitate equipment upgrades, new equipment installations and commissioning, and system modifications.
Essential Functions
- Troubleshoots and corrects production equipment control problems to enable maximum productivity and product quality.
- Assist in the debugging of new equipment and equipment upgrades and modifications.
- Diagnose root causes of equipment malfunctions and work with team members to establish permanent resolutions.
- Assist Senior Level Controls Engineering in the deployment of new systems and system upgrades.
- Assist Senior Level Controls Engineering in the commissioning and testing of new equipment installations.
- May provide direction to maintenance technicians as needed to fulfill position objectives.
- Advise and assist maintenance supervision and maintenance personnel as needed with daily controls related equipment issues.
- May provide supervision and direction to contractors and suppliers during equipment service visits and installations.
- Work to ensure that all electrical/controls related contractors and suppliers work in compliance with all company policies.
- Maintain Electrical, Controls and Process Drawings to ensure equipment drawings are current with systems as applied.
- Maintain device parameter documentation to ensure current parameters are documented and retrievable for device replacement.
- Maintain programmable device program files to current revision
- Follow change control procedures for all changes to systems, programs or parameters.
- Follow archiving procedures for all revised drawings, device parameters, device program files, and system documentation.
- Work independently or as part of a team; may also serve as Project Lead for controls and automation projects.
- Demonstrate solid rapport with other technical staff, operations personnel and supervisors.
- Contribute to the enhancement of overall equipment performance.

Education:
- Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or other Technical Degree in related field preferred
o 5+ years of related experience with additional training may qualify.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of experience including the following:
- 5+ years supporting automated equipment utilizing PLCs, HMIs, Servo Drives, and VFDs in a technical capacity
- 2+ years of experience supporting Allen-Bradley MicroLogix, CompactLogix, and ControLogix PLCs and PanelView Operator Interfaces
- Experience working with Allen-Bradley RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, & FTView software
Preferred qualifications include the following:
- Previous experience programming and supporting industrial palletizing robots
- Previous experience maintaining industrial electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Previous experience with Cognex Vision systems
- Familiarity with high-speed food manufacturing processes (preferably related to salty snacks, baking or confectionery).
